Description and Volunteer Activities

The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation is a member-supported, nonprofit conservation organization. Our mission is to protect Iowa's land, water and wildlife ""for those who follow."" Since our founding in 1979, INHF has worked with public and private partners to protect more than 100,000 acres throughout Iowa, ranging from public conservation areas to private conservation easements. We are founding members of the Blufflands Alliance, a partnership of six land trusts from four states (IA, MN, IL and WI) that protect natural lands along the blufflands region of the Mississippi River and key tributaries.

June 20-21 (Saturday-Sunday). BioBlitz 2009. Join other biophiles for a special weekend of discovery at Heritage Valley, a beautiful natural area along the Upper Iowa River in northeast Iowa. Join ""taxon teams"" (mammals, birds, fungi, mussels, etc.) to find and identify as many species on site as possible. Novices, Generalists and Specialists are welcome. Get details at http://www.inhf.org/bioblitz-2009.htm. Register by June 15 (registration required). Space will be limited. This event is sponsored by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
