Description and Volunteer Activities
The Blufflands Alliance is a conservation partnership devoted to protecting the bluffs region located along 350 miles of the upper Mississippi River, stretching north from Davenport (Iowa) to the St. Croix River (Wisconsin). By encouraging the voluntary actions of landowners, alliance members hope to protect the fragile region from the many forces that today threaten its continued existence. The Blufflands Alliance focuses on direct land protection through acquisition, conservation easements, sensitive development planning, educating the public, promoting dialogue and initiating cooperative efforts. Partners include six private land trusts plus other conservation groups in the four-state blufflands region (Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin).
